Summer has been flying along and it's time to take a moment to catch up. I
have done many things with my daughters through the years, but I had
never taken a trip with just my son. That needed to change!
David said, "Mom, do you realize I've never been to Washington, DC!" And I said,
"Neither have I. Let's go!" And off we went! I can honestly say that it was one of
the best trips I've ever taken. One on one time with just one child is amazing.
My niece, Brynn, lives in Washington, DC, so we were fortunate to meet up with
her for a day. The store behind them in the picture is the most unique bookstore
I've ever been in. There are books from the floor to the ceiling and in the bathroom
you barely have room to close the door and get to the toilet. It screams "fire hazard"!!!
David's loved anything to do with President Lincoln. I think we went back
to the monument four times!
The art museum had something for everyone. We really enjoyed the neon United
States exhibit where the artist had TVs in each of the individual states showing things
reminiscent of that state (i.e. Wisconsin had cheese, farms, Lake Michigan, Packers,
etc... while Kansas had The Wizard of Oz, Idaho had potatoes etc...) What fun!
I always love "traveling" along with you!
