Karel Hendee comes to NSQG

Karel Hendee gave a fascinating talk on the silk worm and harvesting silk.
She showed us how to paint on silk and talked about the different fabric paints.

She is extremely down to earth and the kind of person you would love to be
friends with.  After our guild meeting, we headed up to the Wisconsin Quilt
Museum in Cedarburg and had a tour of the new facilities.  Amazing!  It is really
going to be an important facility, bringing in talent from all over the world.
(Kind of a Paducah of the North!)  After a quick lunch, Karel gave us a lesson
in dyeing silk and making a landscape with additional fabrics.  It was a very
enjoyable day!

Summer in Door County! You can 't beat it!

We did a little Mini Golfing while here.  David won with the lowest score which
he achieved by getting four Holes-in-one.  Amazing!!!

Then it was on to Go Carting.  I was in 1st place until the last lap when Christie
flew past me.  No Fair!!!  We brought Christie's best friend, Rachel, with us.
You've probably seen her before in my pictures.  She tends to travel with our
family quite a bit.

I think the thing I love most about Door County is all the flowers they've potted
and planted.  You can't help but be happy here!
And the sunsets........... Well, they speak for themselves.
One of David's favorite places to eat is the Greenwood Super Club.  It's a typical
up north super club with great food and a homey atmosphere.  Saturday's special
is prime rib.  And yes.....David finished it all!

Lake Geneva with Antique group

Summer can be a difficult time to get together 16 busy ladies.....we were lucky to
gather 6 of us to go to Lake Geneva for some shopping, boating & eating.  We took
the Lady of the Lake boat tour which was very educational and cooled us off to boot.

I LOVE this hand painted boat!  It made me want to get out my paints and start
creating.  Lake Geneva is a great place to visit :-)

I'm Back!!! Time to update......

Summer has been flying along and it's time to take a moment to catch up. I
have done many things with my daughters through the years, but I had
never taken a trip with just my son. That needed to change!
David said, "Mom, do you realize I've never been to Washington, DC!"  And I said,
"Neither have I.  Let's go!"  And off we went!  I can honestly say that it was one of
the best trips I've ever taken.  One on one time with just one child is amazing.
My niece, Brynn, lives in Washington, DC, so we were fortunate to meet up with
her for a day.  The store behind them in the picture is the most unique bookstore
I've ever been in.  There are books from the floor to the ceiling and in the bathroom
you barely have room to close the door and get to the toilet. It screams "fire hazard"!!!
David's loved anything to do with President Lincoln.  I think we went back
to the monument four times!

The art museum  had something for everyone.  We really enjoyed the neon United
States exhibit where the artist had TVs in each of the individual states showing things
reminiscent of that state (i.e. Wisconsin had cheese, farms, Lake Michigan, Packers,
etc... while Kansas had The Wizard of Oz, Idaho had potatoes etc...) What fun!
